In this 7 part Supportive Leadership series, we will go through the leadership skills you require to be an effective business leader, manager and a highly effective communicator.
To move to a well-formed outcome we gauge the distance and difference between present state and desired state. Where are we now? Where do we want to go? What stops us? What’s in our way?
This gives us a clear way to think more about moving away from aversions and
toward desired outcomes. This pattern uses the key components for effectively creating and reaching a desired outcome. In coaching we use this pattern as a reference tool since it allows us to do several important things:
• By it we hand over responsibility to the client for his or her own plans and life.
• We set up milestones to measure and confirm progress.
• We set up a directional frame for Coaching.
• We set up a process that gives us and the client a leverage for change.
Getting a Well Formed Outcome Statement
In coaching, we coach to an outcome. Without an outcome, we have no agenda or frame to coach to and so are doomed to merely having a nice chat! To create a true coaching session, we have to get an outcome statement from the client.
Asking a person to turn reflect inwardly to respond with ideas, answers, resources, and solutions, inquiring about the client’s world of ideas, beliefs, frames, goals, etc.
Did you know how telling, storytelling, and giving of personal judgments, no questioning etc scores a 0 on the International Benchmarks?
